Best news magazine and also the best designed app on my phone. Have subscribed for over 40 years.
The Economist app is one of the better newsstand apps in the App Store. It will be even better if commenting is integrated into the app, just like the webpage version of the articles. Hope this is not a remote possibility.
The economist is the best magazine in the world, a great study of modern events and geopolitics. Its presentation on iPhone and ability to listen to the audio of any given article is useful and satisfying.

Briefs with the usual quality analysis you came to expect from the Economist, but also with the usual arrogance: if you didnt read all the articles, you cant read the pithy quote at the end. So much for freedom of choice.
When you senda push notification on a specific article, tapping it should direct me to the article not the issue. Currently you have to dig through the issue to find the advertised content. I settle down with a physical copy to take my time and read, on the go I want quick content.
Some bad moments
With the latest update installed, the audio version shuts down every time my IPhone locks automatically requiring a stop to manually unlock the phone. The older version did not do this. I suggest that this needs to be corrected.
Im not sure how this could possibly be considered an improvement. All previous revisions could play audio in the background, so that one could, for example, listen on Bluetooth while running a navigation app. Now, the app must be on the screen, and the screen must be "On" for audio to play. How is this useful?
I just updated the app.
Now when Im listening to an article and I turn off my phone, the audio shuts down. Normally this wouldnt happen.
Please fix this.
The audio reading cannot work at the background on iOS 9. In another words, if the screen is locked or you switched to the other apps, the audio reading will stop.
This doesnt happen in the previous version.
Audio stops playing when the app is in background which makes it pretty much useless
Everything worked fine before this upgrade
Cant play audio unless youre in the app, which sucks. App was a lot better when you could listen to/control the audio while on lock screen.
